Director's MessageRikkyo University, Master of Social Development and Administration (MSDA) Course

We warmly welcome students to join our Master of Social Development and Administration (MSDA) Course, the Graduate School of Social Design Studies.

We live in an unstable world facing many global challenges such as poverty, inequality, environmental degradation, and injustice. The MSDA Course is designed for students who are passionate about addressing these issues and who engage with peers from diverse international backgrounds in social innovation.

Our program provides a variety of courses on human security, education for sustainable development, social development, gender, disaster risk management, and other topics related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The MSDA program is intentionally kept small and admits young professionals and government officials through JICA’s SDGs Global Leader program.

We also organize a field trip to Rikuzentakata, a disaster-affected area, to study disaster risk, resilience, and reconstruction, and a visit to Hiroshima for peace education with a focus on the risks of nuclear weapons. Japanese language courses are also available to explore Japanese culture and traditions.

Rikkyo University is among Japan's oldest and most competitive private institutions. In 2024, we celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Ikebukuro Campus. In recognition of its distinctive educational initiatives, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology selected Rikkyo University for the Top Global University Project (2014-2024).

We are excited to invite you to Rikkyo University, where you can enjoy unique experiences on a culturally diverse campus with enthusiastic scholars and students. Together, we will create a society where we don’t have to give up hope and dreams!
