Ikebukuro Life Safety Learning Center Tour 2025
OBJECTIVE.
On June 11, eight MSDA students visited the Ikebukuro Disaster Prevention Center together with Professor Muto. Having studied the topic two days earlier, they came well prepared with background knowledge about earthquakes and disaster prevention.
The tour program began with an animated video, followed by an earthquake simulation, a smoke-filled room evacuation drill, and fire extinguisher training. The earthquake simulator replicated a seismic intensity of 6, during which the students practiced taking cover under a dining table. They found it challenging to hold onto a table leg as it shook violently.
In the brief discussion facilitated by Professor Muto after the tour, the students shared their reflections on the significance of being well-prepared.
